Grace & distinction

Carlina - Côtes du Rhône - La Ferme Saint-Martin

History

The first Roussanne and Clairette vines were planted on the estate in 1985, on Triassic plots located between 450 and 550 meters above sea level. Today, a young white wine vine is emerging, between 600 and 650 meters. A hectare of massal selection, from a multitude of different grape varieties, will bring us new surprises.

Terroir

Terroir clay-limestone from the Triassic period and limestone marl.

In the vineyard

Soils mechanically worked between the vines, maintaining a vegetation cover between the rows. 30% Roussanne – 40% Clairette – 15% Grenache Blanc – 15% other, vines aged 5 to 30 years. Yield: 25 to 35 hl/h.

In the cellar

“Combining volume, tension, dynamics, and depth”

Hand-harvested, hand-sorted. Vinified in 2, 3, or 4 batches, with no added oenological product for the majority of the volume. Aged for 9 months in tuns and concrete vats. Sulfur-free.

Tasting

Golden color, complex nose, with aniseed and floral notes. Sleek and fresh on the palate, with a long finish and mouthwatering bitter notes.

Storage

Can be consumed young, peaks 1 to 3 years, aging potential of 5 to 7 years in a cool cellar.
