Biography of Gonzalo Márquez:
1972: Birth of Gonzalo Márquez in Caracas, Venezuela.
1989: Painting and drawing classes at the Federico Brandt School of Plastic Arts.
1991-1996: Graduated from the PROdiseño School of Graphic Design and Design.
1996: Exhibition, Minotauro Gallery (Caracas).
1998: Exhibition, Minotauro Gallery (Caracas).
Alongside his artistic beginnings, he worked as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator: T-shirts, logos, books, and magazines.
Later, he joined his father’s workshop to create a series of mahogany tables, where they experimented with glass marquetry, copper, and mother-of-pearl. Following this experience, he enrolled in a cabinetmaking school, which he left a year later.
2006: He joined the Biology Workshop team at USB (Simon Bolivar University) under the direction of biologist Ernesto Panier, working on illustration projects, creation, and restoration of models for the Children’s Museum (a museum dedicated to the basics of arts and crafts, science, and culture).
Following this experience, he created a series of illustrations for interactive console games, also for the Children’s Museum.
2007: After some personal reflection, he decided to devote himself to oil painting in France.
