History

This is the est-oldest cuvée from the estate. It was first produced in 1964 by Aimé Jullien. The label has remained unchanged since that year. This cuvée comes from our oldest vines, which we pay particular attention to.

Terroir

Clay-limestone from the Triassic period. This very ancient geological period produces very colorful soils. This soil touches the surface of the commune of Suzette, due to a compression phenomenon. It has the particularity of bringing peppery and spicy notes to wines.

In the vineyard

Mechanically worked soils between the vines, maintaining a layer of vegetation between the rows. 95% Grenache, 60 to 103 years old – 5% Syrah. Yield: 20 to 25 hl/h.

In the cellar

“Seeking to convey the depths reached by the roots of our oldest vines”

Vinified without any added oenological product. Hand-harvested, hand-sorted, and completely destemmed. Maceration for 21 to 28 days, aging for 9 to 12 months, half in vats and half in barrels. Sulfur-free.

Tasting

Intense red color, sunny nose, spicy notes. Powerful, complex wine with plenty of roundness and well-integrated tannins. Black fruit dominant. Best served at around 18°C-20°C, with red meats, game, and cheese.

Storage

Can be enjoyed young, with a aging potential of 7 to 10 years in a cool cellar (4 to 7 years in a cellar with significant temperature variations).
