Terroir & appellations
The vineyard is divided into three different appellations:
- Beaumes-de-Venise
- Ventoux
- Côtes-du-Rhône
Of the estate’s 30 hectares, 19 are planted with vines.
A few plots of land are uncultivated, while Mediterranean scrubland and forest occupy the remainder.
The vineyard is divided into three different appellations:
AOP Beaumes-de-Venise rouge
10 hectares have been classified as “cru” since 2005, in the communes of Suzette and La Roque-Alric.
The Red and Yellow Triassic occupy most of the appellation; these are very old soils (180 to 200 million years old), and therefore very deep.
They emerge in this area due to a compression phenomenon.
The other part contains more recent marl and limestone scree.
AOP Ventoux red
7 hectares, in the communes of Le Barroux and St Hippolyte le Graveyron.
Les Estaillades (Barroux): the soils are clay-sand, close to the Triassic.
La Gérine (Saint-Hippolyte): the soils are clay-gravel, and much more recent.
AOP Côtes-du-Rhône red and white
2 hectares, in the commune of Suzette.
Les Romanins: our Côtes-du-Rhône red is composed largely of from our young vines, which produce a wine that is still too light to be considered a Beaumes-de-Venise “cru”.
The plots are therefore different from one year to the next.
The Whites: clay-limestone and grey marl soils.
In good climatic conditions, we produce around 100,000 bottles per year.
